History of NAOMI Editions
When Éditions NAOMI began in 2002, I had been seeking to know the Lord Jesus better for 40 years. I grew up in an environment where the Word of God was considered and respected. From the age of 6, I collected images and verses to paste into an album and my preference was for those where we saw Jesus carrying the lost sheep and where he knocks at the door. In Sunday school we were encouraged to learn entire chapters of the Bible, which is how I knew Isaiah 53 and Psalm 19 by heart before I was even a teenager. One day I found a brochure in German with titles and names of Jesus cited only with their respective biblical reference. So I hoped that one day I would publish a book on the same principle: only verses from the Bible to meditate on and thus enrich oneself with the pure truth, without adding a personal opinion. When I was 19, a friend gave me the “Daily Light”, a yearless calendar in which Bible verses were written by theme. It was a treat to read a page a day for years. When Philippe and I met, the desire to study the sacred texts had become even stronger and I felt that with Philippe I could study as I wanted in complete freedom and with the respect due to our Lord. This is how, after a few years of daily reading together, we decided to publish Perfect Love; a trilogy with the aim of presenting and highlighting texts from the Holy Bible. These are cited without comment. The themes of life were chosen while respecting an overview of sacred texts. They have been grouped in chronological order to encourage meditation and seeking the mind of God. All the passages chosen have had a power of encouragement, consolation, edification and personal guidance one day in our lives. They are the living and abiding Word of God, sharper than any two-edged sword.
Thus was born the first book:
Jesus - A NAME ABOVE ALL NAME
Seventy names and titles of the Lord Jesus are presented in this book in chronological order, according to biblical revelation. They are each accompanied by twelve passages, comparable to twelve fountains of water from which the reader can draw infinitely. Like a carefully prepared perfume, we discover there the perfectly constant and unfailing personality and power of our God who is one: Jesus Christ, in whom are all the particularities and power of the heavenly Father. For each name, which stands there like a signpost, like a palm tree in the desert of this world, a complete study of the Bible was made with the aim of putting this title in eternal value, either in the past, in the present and in the future. Texts in italics are notes from the Bible translators.
Then came the second book:
Promises - IN JESUS CHRIST IS YES AND AMEN.
Counting God's promises is like wanting to know the exact number of our hairs...however, we are exhorted to do so and remember them daily. To present a number of promises that honors the greatness of God, we thought of the multiple times that Jesus asks us to forgive our neighbor, that is, seventy times seven times! Like the colors of the rainbow, on each page, at least seven biblical verses are cited in relation to one of the seventy chosen themes. The reader can “anchor” himself in the heavenly places by faith in God’s covenant made with all his creatures. The Bible presents us with even more promises, it is to it that this book must bring us closer, because it contains only a notion of the riches of God's love.
Third, a book on Christian behavior:
The Race - SUCH A GREAT CLOUD OF WITNESSES.
Seventy witnesses to life by faith are presented in this book in the chronological order of their existence. Wanting to let oneself be taught and guided by the Word of God, the Bible, is to listen to their voice and take an example of their conduct. They offer us unequivocal proof that it is possible to achieve the goal whatever our circumstances, that is, to follow Jesus Christ by putting his commandments into practice. The choice of twenty-one women and forty-nine men (plus three because of couples and a fellow worker), was based on the important criterion of their faithfulness, as far as the Bible tells us, until the end of their earthly stay. Their names are mentioned with a character trait or behavior essential to our Christian walk, comparable to the rules of a race that must absolutely be respected if we want to win. These are then developed through a study of the entire Bible.
These three books, grouped together in a box set entitled Perfect Love, exist to remind us of the wonders of God's Word and to bring us back to it, so we strongly recommend that readers read the contexts from which the verses cited are taken.
These thematic studies gave birth to the book
The Creation of the World because the entire Bible confirms the first chapter of Genesis (see summary on the page The true story of our origins.
When the book of the Creation of the World went to press, I spent a sleepless night and the idea was born to do a study comparing the prophecies of the Old Testament with the perfect work of Jesus Christ when he took upon himself all our sins. This gave rise to the fifth book:
THE TRIAL OF SIN
Beginning with the text of Isaiah 53, this book tells the story of the condemnation, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
At each stage of this narrative there is a development of sin evidenced by the circumstances surrounding the perfect life of the Savior of the world. It is through the Ten Commandments that we can best identify what God calls sin. The prophetic announcement of the coming of the Deliverer is integrated into this study, in order to demonstrate its fulfillment.
These books are available either in printed or interactive version (iBooks Store) or in PDF downloadable for free from this site.
